Il contesto
Ha caratteristiche insolite con un motore stile cruiser da 1.670 cc raffreddato ad aria, valvole in testa, motore V-twin ma con telaio e sospensioni stile naked.
Il motore è derivato dalla Yamaha Warrior XV1700 ma modificato per lo scopo, mentre le forcelle e freni sono derivati dalla Yamaha R1 2004-2005. Originariamente presentata come una concept bike al Motor Show di Tokyo nel 1999, il forte interesse da parte del pubblico per il veicolo ha spinto Yamaha a produrre il modello di serie, che fu presentato nel 2005.

The Yamaha MT-01 is a MT series motorcycle made by Yamaha from 2005 to 2012, available in Australia, New Zealand,[1] Europe, India, Japan and parts of North America.[2] But Yamaha Motor Corp. USA declined to import it to the United States, citing a small market for this style of motorcycle.[3] It has unconventional features with a cruiser-style 1,670 cc (102 cu in) air-cooled, overhead valve V-twin engine but sportbike or naked bike style frame and suspension. The engine is derived from the Yamaha Warrior XV1700 and modified to suit application in the MT-01, while the forks and brakes are derived from the 2004 to 2005 Yamaha R1.[4][fr] Yamaha MT-01
